You can call me Gwen!
I am a senior at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania graduating in December 2023, pursuing a BFA in Communication Design, concentrating in Illustration with a minor in German Communication and Culture.
During my time at college, I have taken classes to learn the principles and practices of graphic design, advertising design, interactive design, and illustration that make up the Communication Design program. The chance to develop a diverse range of projects provides enriching knowledge from experienced professors, and I am excited to find applications of those related academics into the professional design field.
Between college semesters, I gained leadership experience as a coach for the Ephrata Youth Cheerleading Program. Understanding how to work as a group with the kids through encouragement and persistence has been the greatest lesson. That experience in a team building environment helps me to work collaboratively with mutual designers.
My artistic style of traditional illustrations and digital tools builds my confidence in incorporating the authentic, hand-done texture into my unique work. My concentration in illustration extends beyond design work and into personal passions. Creating images with ink through markers, brushes, or quill pens is a fun brainstorming activity I do when I start a new project. I feel at ease when drawing with graphite, charcoal, and colored pencils. In my free time, I enjoy painting nature with watercolor or acrylics.
I am looking for a junior level design role with opportunities in packaging, branding, and visual storytelling housed in Lancaster or Philadelphia, PA. Check out my portfolio or contact me using the buttons below!
